Our client is seeking a Mortgage Operations Manager to join their team in Houston, TX. In this pivotal role, you'll lead a high-performing team responsible for preparing and reviewing essential mortgage closing documents. Your leadership will ensure operational excellence and support the delivery of outstanding service to a diverse client base that includes mortgage lenders, title companies, and legal partners.
What You’ll Do:
Our client is seeking a Mortgage Operations Manager to join their team in Houston, TX. In this pivotal role, you'll lead a high-performing team responsible for preparing and reviewing essential mortgage closing documents. Your leadership will ensure operational excellence and support the delivery of outstanding service to a diverse client base that includes mortgage lenders, title companies, and legal partners.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and Manage Teams: Oversee the daily operations of the Document Preparation and Review department, including supervising other managers, team leads, and exempt/non-exempt staff. Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management in coordination with the Department Head.
- Drive Operational Excellence: Ensure timely and accurate preparation of mortgage closing documents in alignment with internal service standards and client expectations. Monitor production goals, quality metrics, and client SLAs.
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as a key point of contact for mortgage clients, title companies, and attorneys. Resolve issues and maintain trusted relationships through effective communication and problem-solving.
- Strategic Leadership: Participate in strategic planning initiatives. Recommend process improvements, staffing models, and department structure aligned with business goals.
- Policy, Compliance & Process Oversight: Ensure strict adherence to client-specific, investor, and regulatory requirements. Lead the implementation of updated systems, workflows, and policies to support continued compliance and operational efficiency.
- People Development: Train and retain top talent. Create an engaging work environment focused on professional growth, accountability, and high performance.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing large mortgage closing teams
- Deep expertise in Texas mortgage closings, construction lending, and deficiency operations
- Proven track record of managing pipeline workflows, identifying risks, and delivering results
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines, especially during month-end
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and comfort with document prep systems
- Experience collaborating with senior leaders and participating in strategic business discussions
- High attention to detail and a focus on accuracy and compliance
