Systems Administrator II

San Antonio, TX
Full Time
Experienced

Are you a seasoned infrastructure professional who takes pride in building secure, stable, and high-performing environments? Do you bring deep Azure expertise, while still being the kind of hands-on technologist who doesn’t hesitate to troubleshoot a printer, patch a server, or support staff as needed?

We’re seeking a System Administrator II to help strengthen and modernize our client’s IT infrastructure across their San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston offices. This is a highly hands-on role within a 50-year industry leader where reliability, professionalism, and performance are non-negotiable.
This position is based on-site in San Antonio, with remote flexibility during approved maintenance windows. Daily in-office presence is required.

About the Company:

For 50 years, our client has been a trusted leader in the mortgage lending industry, delivering timely, accurate, and compliant closing documentation for more than 5 million residential loan transactions nationwide. Their reputation is built on precision, consistency, and deep industry expertise.
As the organization continues to modernize its infrastructure and strengthen cloud capabilities, they remain grounded in the same commitment to excellence that has defined them for decades.

About the Role:

This is not a purely strategic or cloud-only position. This is a hands-on infrastructure role requiring strong Azure experience, networking knowledge, automation capability, and the professionalism to support stakeholders at all levels.

You will help audit and refine current environments, implement best practices, strengthen security posture, and ensure the firm’s technology ecosystem operates at peak performance.

What You’ll Do:

  • Administer and optimize Azure infrastructure, EntraID, Microsoft 365, and Intune environments.
  • Audit and improve Azure configurations using industry best practices.
  • Manage Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Windows 10/11 desktop environments; macOS exposure a plus.
  • Support VMware virtual environments (vSphere/ESXi).
  • Maintain networking infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless systems, and VoIP (Spectrum). Experience with Palo Alto, Juniper, Dell, or Cisco is a plus.
  • Monitor system performance using tools such as PRTG and Azure monitoring; respond quickly to critical alerts.
  • Manage Active Directory/Azure AD access controls and endpoint security (Sophos).
  • Support backup and disaster recovery processes (Veeam preferred).
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues across multiple office locations.
  • Perform break/fix support when needed, including executive-level support.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to streamline operations.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation including SOPs, system configurations, and network diagrams.
  • Support regulatory and audit initiatives, including SOC-related processes.
  • Assist with container-based environments (Docker/Azure containers) and understand application behavior at the server and network level.
  • Contribute to the firm’s growing use of automation and AI-assisted tools.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience in a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar infrastructure role.
  • Strong, hands-on Azure administration experience is required.
  • Experience auditing and improving Microsoft cloud environments.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, VoIP).
  • VMware virtualization experience.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell preferred).
  • Understanding of how applications function at the network, server, and container level.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Professional presence with the ability to confidently support executives and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Relevant certifications (Azure Administrator Associate, MCSE, CompTIA Network+/Security+, VMware VCP) are a plus.

Working Expectations:

  • This is an on-site role based in San Antonio.
  • Standard business hours (7–4 or 8–5), with flexibility as needed.
  • Periodic after-hours and weekend maintenance windows are required, including late-night patching or system upgrades to ensure full operational readiness.
  • Occasional travel between Texas office locations may be required.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a stable, 50-year industry leader with a national reputation for excellence.
  • Play a key role in modernizing and strengthening infrastructure across multiple offices.
  • Gain exposure to executive leadership and meaningful IT initiatives.
  • Contribute to cloud optimization, automation efforts, and evolving AI adoption.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including PTO, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and more.
